This might seem like a no-brainer, but Apple allows 5 computers to have access to your paid-for library. So this can apply to your home desktop, laptop, your old clunker you left at your parents, office PC, and maybe a computer or 2 you use when you are at a friend’s house. That last bit is where iTunes grants some flexibility. It doesn’t know who your friends are. You might have some legal ownership to the computer, and even if you don’t- you still use it and have a right to listen to your library locally when using somebody else’s computer. It’s similar to the circle of friends features (My 5) that cell-phone services offer. Being able to pool music from your friends and have your friends pool your iTunes purchases is a nice way to stay within the bounds of iTunes DRM.

What if I told you I possess a leaked track of Jerry DeCicca on vocals from a forthcoming project. I have no idea if this is the Black Swans or affiliated with La Société Expéditionnaire but it seems like a demo for a 2009 album. I like the electric southern blues direction of this. This track is shrouded in utter mystery. The song may be written by a Tucsonan that the Ohio musician discovered late 2008 [tip thanks to Mr. Allen from the local radio station]. It could also be possible that someone overdubbed his voice in there, because the Black Swans don’t normally use such a distorted guitar. Is this a collaboration with The Warm Inventions (Hope Sandoval’s latest band after Mazzy Star). And who is the background singer? Whatever the story, it’s a good one. Premiere of “First Time”

You will need some things to make this happen. If you have some stale bread and a clothing iron in your closet, you are halfway there already. Cooking Supplies: -iron (it’s not made for cooking but it works) Ingredients: -cheese -bread -tuna fish -mayo -aluminum foil (remove before consuming) Do what you need to do to create the goodies in between the bread. This includes mixing up the mayo and tuna fish. Have a layer of cheese in between the tuna and bread. Be sure to have cheese-to-bread contact on both sides or else the cheese will have difficulty melting. Wrap sandwich in tinfoil. Notice there is no need for oil or butter. Put iron on hottest setting and let it sit on top of the foil for 5 minutes. You may want to peek inside before the 5 minutes to make sure it is getting cooked properly. Carefully turn the half-melt over to singe the other side. The final product will sure impress your hungry friends, the debt-ridden neighbor, and the people you know who have a fear of stoves. If you are higher maintenance, you can throw some garlic, celery, or chopped spinach or tomato in the mixture [...]

Does knowledge derive from reality or its disparity between conflict? Or even as a denial that they are polar opposites? Does knowledge come from perceptions? “To be is to be perceived or to perceive” George Berkeley came up with this, meaning that something only exists, in the particular way that it is seen to exist, when it is being perceived by an observing subject. This invites wild variations of perception from the norm to be equally real. Hallucinations don’t exist. Drug experiences are not fake experiences. It is obvious that if you are hallucinating, you are perceiving something only you recognize. It is a real experience though. You are actually witnessing the episode. Your eyes capture all the information, but but perception creates transformations. If you were blind, deaf, mute, and without scent and tactile abilities, would you be able to receive knowledge? It doesn’t seem too possible. But does that mean that perception is the cause of knowledge? Maybe not. The only thing left without the senses is a brain with learning potential. Even if there are instincts embedded in the senseless person, using instinct seems an impossible feat. After all, the five senses themselves are instincts; no empirical [...]

The year is about through and I’d like to scan through the past of liquidparallax.com. I’m usually the person who scolds other site for doing “This Month’s Best Posts Roundup,” but this is slightly different. In over a year of doing this blog, I’ve never put myself in an egocentric position and said “Internet users can’t get enough of me. Instead of being more useful I’ll just repeat myself.” Au contraire my friends. It is my hope that you do not have to suffer through recycled material. Nobody cares for used underwear, and that’s where I don’t come in… There does come a time, though, when things get overlooked especially when I first started this site and nobody really saw it. I’m not a fan of number crunching accounting type stuff, so I like to keep non-fun math out of things. That’s why I’ll skim through some of the pages that get a lot of traffic without getting statistical, and I’ll jump into some pages that haven’t received any recognition and give some background to my madness.
No need to fear for your life or anything, but it’s always nice to know that everyone who uses Google has a cookie that expires 2038. The cookie is not edible, but it will track your use on the site and log your entire search history. Google has allegedly indicated that they won’t be deleting user’s search histories. This doesn’t really bother me, because they can do whatever they like as long as it says so in their terms of service. Google has obtained many useful tools online and some would rather give up their privacy than give up using google. There is nothing wrong with that. Other set up proxies which are a pain to set up for newbies and make websurfing slower. Websites like one I found via gHacks can be used to bypass direct search snooping. The best solution that I am using is going through Blingo which offers prizes for using Google through their site. Here’s an invite to Blingo which will allow you to win prizes for signing up. Without registering, they cannot send you anything without an address. Otherwise, you can still use blingo to anonymize your searching habits because Google has no way [...]

SEO and keyword ranking is a big deal to white collar internerds, but I look at it as an arbitrary location up to google to shuffle around. I don’t need to be on the front page for the search 11 best 2007 (notice the permalink to that page is /ten-best-places-to-search-free-music/, although I changed the title). Yet other searches don’t reach my site, but other searches engines do. In a perfect world, we wouldn’t need to search for anything. We’d have it already.
I wonder when the seasons on DVDs will come out. They are having trouble with music rights/royalties/permissions, so it may be never. Amazon UK edition advertises release dates, but has fallen back every single time. Lucky for me (and many others), the ION TV channel that is carried by DirecTV Satellite (and probably other Cable Providers) is now broadcasting The Wonder Years on weekdays, prime time. ION Media Networks was formerly a station called PAX, but they rebranded and acquired rights to some valuable shows and movies. They air 2 Wonder Years episodes per day, and it all started today, Monday, April 2nd, 2007. Be sure to record these, because you might be waiting a while for home releases.
