Chances are that you have a voicemail. A landline or a cellphone usually comes standard with the option for a personal greeting. Below are some original and humorous recordings of voice messages for your mobile or immobile phone. There are plenty of other funny ideas, but we’ve seen them or heard them before. For instance, the “Hello” and pause effect- the prank is more amusing for the listener because you don’t get to hear them throughout their confusion until after the beep. A rarer one was a philosophical answering machine that I found rather witty: If a telephone rings in an empty room and no one is there to answer it, was there really a phone call? Help me investigate this phenomenon by leaving your name and number after the tone. Other jokes and witty lines can be recorded for your callers that may bewilder a silence after the tone, or you might get to hear laughs that started before the beep, or you might throw someone off into the old routine of “What?…Hello?…Are you–Is this?…Am I leaving a message?” But you want fresh ideas. You can borrow mine to entertain your callers. Let me know their reactions. Here are [...]

Before I get criticized for using the word hallucination, I’d like to point out that illusion and hallucination are different, but they share a bit in common. The first (illusion) meaning you perceive something the wrong way, and the latter meaning you have a vision of something without any sightly cause to promote it (a green ghost from a blank white wall). I’ll also point out that a hallucination will probably have some visual stimulus that may influence what exactly you hallucinate. Even when eyes are closed they still perceive darkness. If outside on a sunny day with your eyes shut, you can still see light reflecting on your eyelids, making a lesser darkness than eyes closed in the dark. It is my opinion that illusions are subtle differences that come from undecipherable stimuli, and more imaginative illusions are deemed hallucinations in the presence of more subtle things or atmosphere. Foreword: None of these require 3D glasses (the Red/Blue shades for Anaglyph images) Begin the Tripping Autostereograms are the common single picture optical illusions where you start close up and cross-eyed and move back and start to see depth. A name often associated with this is “Magic Eye” although they [...]

The Greedies, as they were called, had a Merry Christmas in 1979 and it featured drums and guitar from Sex Pistols members and all of Thin Lizzy. It’s a rocking little number anticipating the New Year nice and early. Now we all know what English punk added to rough and tough Irish rock sounds like… “HEY!”

Like any other holiday in America, people get offended by celebrations. It’s not polite to wish a Merry Christmas. Instead we shall consolidate all holidays as to not offend minority holidays (please note that we don’t care about offending people, just the holiday itself). Today is the 4th of July. Nobody calls it by its real name (Indie Day) due to the controversial nature of humanity. I agree that we should censor ourselves when it comes to thanking our early country dwellers for freedom so that supporter of oppression won’t feel left out. If you are sensitive to historical data, please leave or cover your political correct brain now… Independence Day (no, not the movie) of the United States happened in 1776. Today is one of the only days that almost all people of political preferences watch fireworks or other related activities in acknowledgment of the occasion. It’s a moment when the anti-Bush crowd acknowledges war without calling names. It’s a moment when pro-war folks see justification from a good outcome of war. I’m not sure how many casual historians are aware, but we are actually celebrating two day late! Although the Declaration of Independence was formally printed on July [...]

In no way am I endorsing drinking alcohol or moving to the UK, but I stumbled on an oddball freebie from Bass.com that will send a Neo-British Invasion double-disc (2xCD) if you are capable of legally drinking (21+ and don’t live in TX or CA). No shipping cost or anything. Although this might not be that fantastic, I thought I’d mention it because of a seemingly contradicting identity of the corporation. The target market is Americans. They claim to be British beer or British import booze yet the website says they are from Norwalk, CT. Is the CD then by artists from the US who play British music? I’m a little baffled. Not into beer or split nationality companies? Maybe try some free Twilight Zone radio dramas. Three are up for download in mp3 format while humans last.

It was at one point supergreg.com, but now all that remains are mirrors of the extinct site and two short video clips. Supergreg is a European/German? who knows how to spins some fresh beats. He sports a world-renowned unibrow. The man behind the character of Super Greg is also the person who plays Borat.
Underarm hair is disgusting for females, yet ladies are to tolerate it on men? Don’t get me wrong: I don’t shave my pits, I’m a straight guy, and I’m not really a feminist (in the sense of increasing rights of women only; I’m more of a nongenderist [a made up word] where gender has the least bearing possible on social life so men and women both have rights equally). I’m just curious why men would get grossed out that girls would have hair under their arm. It’s more common in Europe, but I’d like to hear opinions from all around the world. And makeup too- why are women expected to put products on their face? It might imply that they are ugly without it. I’m not trying to argue that it is wrong to do so. Men are using makeup more often than they have in the past. Some women enjoy fancying themselves up. It’s fine if you do, but those who don’t usually get negative comments. The only reason I could come up with is that both makeup and shaving outwardly expresses hygiene and those who don’t do it are perceived as unclean. This doesn’t really hold up though, [...]

What would life be like if you constantly were confronted by your immediate self? A better memory, maybe. By providing instant feedback, I think we’d be self-aware of everything. The repetition would at least for a time make us think more about what we are doing. If you were always reflected back to your consciousness, it would reinforce what actions you make. It would be like a mirror of the self. You would always agree. You may be annoyed at the duplicity, but it may later be blocked out like many other things we knock out of our focus. You could develop an outside perspective as others would see you. As a figurative experiment, you could “talk to yourself” via an instant message program such as AIM, Yahoo Messenger, or others. Add yourself as a buddy on your list (You should be friends with yourself anyway). If you don’t have the heart to add yourself as a friend, then you have issues about your self-worth. You are better than that. Now gather the courage to send yourself a greeting. Try to react to yourself. Realize what it feels like. You will learn something.
