Shuffle on over to Daytrotter to download some fabulous recordings of CoCoRosie. Their refreshing tune to listen to first is the mis-titled track “R.I.P. Burnface” which is really the beautiful “Lemonade.” Often times CoCoRosie gets slammed as a worse version of Bjork. I don’t usually care for Björk, so the argument doesn’t stick. I would say that the vocals compare more to Bob Dylan in the sense that they are an acquired taste. American Idol is not the contest here, but let the music speak. Granted, they are strange. They like goofy costumes similar the The Knife, and they enjoy an even worse album cover. The upside is they have an interesting concoction of traditional inspiration with an experimental electronic sound.

Exclusive free download of “Boyfriend” by Best Coast. The album “Crazy for You” was released three days ago. Score: 4.5/5.0 Best Coast has been popping up on most cutting-edge music blogs. Why? Who knows… The song is good though. Not too good, just good. Download it and hear for yourself. Does it meet your standards? Will it supersede your love for Yeah Yeah Yeahs? It’s a bit more pop-sensation than I tend to go for, but the catchy lines just clench you like that real boyfriend you were hoping for (or lucky enough to have). *half point deduction for lyrical brevity. If you’ve survived the inter-species bonding pictured above, and are still interested in having a listen, then follow the download: Did you know? The lead singer is dating the dude from Wavves (at least publicly).

Searching for free music – I’ve done it before, but things change and I get smarter (hopefully). Trying to get a digital copy of a song or album? Look no further. I’ve found the latest and best online tools to get you right to your goal. Instead of previewing 30 second samples or scrounging through the lost and found known as the internet, you can pretty easily obtain or dip your ears in future music purchases. Do you want to discover that band, but your local music store doesn’t have it and you don’t know anyone or any website that offers sampling capabilities? With the right help you can just search for the latest release or the undiscovered gem you’ve been craving or retrieve downloads that you have legal access to. In most cases, downloading albums for permanent archiving is illegal, so be aware of copyright laws. These searches are powerful and can scrape legal and illegal mp3s and archives. Be respectful of songs and albums and know when they are rightfully free and available. Now choose your route depending on whether you want a song or an entire album: SONG-ORIENTED Dilandau Convenient and thorough search with easy listening and [...]

November was a jam-packed month. And December is surpassing the busyness. Well all is good here. This month by chance got invaded by upbeat songs from more recent times. Not much early blues and older-than-oldies that I sometimes get hung up on. Versus – “Eskimo” Think of the coolest musical catches and a spurt of 90s noise rock. This has some great backbone to it too with the on-the-verge electro drums. They are not popular enough to have a music video, so enjoy the free download. Pras Michel feat. ODB & Mya – “Ghetto Supastar” Mya has such a captivating melody and her delivery is exceptional. Sometimes the rap interjections are distracting other than main verses, but this song managed to get stuck in my head without complaints. No reason why Mya’s vox get plugged into remixes and mashups. Alicia Keys – “No One” She can sing this well live and I am impressed. If you are a radio junkie or just have some passing knowledge of pop music, you’ve been bombarded with this song. I love it despite my usually negative encounter to mainstream radio (I thought this song was mistakenly put on hip-hop radio after they surprisingly played [...]

You can get the printer driver offline easily! I know this is petty, but I find it humorously bothersome (not really though) when someone says “You can preorder Aqualung’s new album Words & Music offline.” So I can order by phone or reserve one through the postal service because it is offered OFFline? Disconnect your modem! The internet is not required. There is a trick going around the not on but off of the internet showing a hack to access google.com offline (no cache required). ISPs have been a scam all these years. We don’t need to suffer speeds of dial-up or even cable internet services. And forget local disk space; everything can be stored remotely offline. Maybe I’m wrong though. It’s possible the use of “offline” is meant to remove items from the internet. You can get firefox offline. In this example, the user is trying to say you can delete firefox from the internet so nobody can download and install it from the Mozilla website. This strategy is like a takedown of a website that will give you a 404 Error when visiting reliable sites such as youtube.com.

July is certainly a trip. It’s a pronouncement of lingering summer. It marks the start of changes and getaways. It was like a prequel to a round trip vacation and the month has return to even more new explosions. You can insert some of your favorite party jams as well if you feel the need. Lykke Li performing the song “Little Bit” in a minimalist setting. She possesses a rhythmic quality that compliments the pitch perfect voice. This is a unexpected find that is bound to become more popular as time goes on. “All You Do Is Talk” by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. They are not black. I haven’t seen any motorcycles. I have no clue if this club is actually full of rebels. What I can tell you is that this song is mighty fine. Shown here is a quality version live. This song is about as gritty as it gets this month. Here’s a live version. I have SXSW to thank for this song being available for free download. Nothing quite life-changing, but pleasantly atmospheric. “What’s the World Got in Store” by Wilco – music clip Surprisingly no media to go with this one. Working hard?
The following is a review by the author of the album- Mistakes Make Music. Bolie Folke (his real name is undisclosed) was kind enough to let me post his biographical account of the recording below: Today I made an album ready for the public to download using the one-man-band name of Bolie Folke. It’s a quick and dirty album birthed by pressure-induced creativity. It began with my rendition of “Jesus is a Mighty Good Leader,” a pre-war blues song by Skip James in the public domain. It was also covered by Beck Hansen. I took the song and played only one root chord over it with a bit of fingerpicking embellishments and seasonings to add some color.
