Kim Taylor is a better candidate for incessantly repeated airplay than Sara Bareilles. I wrote about this song over a year ago stating that I had heard it a year before that. Unfortunately, the studio mp3s are no longer hosted on her site, but I was lucky enough to catch her demo version when it came out, then her album version, as well as a live version. Her live sets are available with good listening quality at archive.org. Tegan and Sara are another pair of females that I have been flooding into my August ears. Their latest album The Con is probably one of my favorites of the 2000s. Minnesota’s radio station The Current was gracious enough to capture a drum-free version of the title track for us. Tegan & Sara are at it again in the same session with “Back in Your Head.” The simplistic piano reminds me of a criticism against David Albarn’s easy pop-like piano instrumentation. To me, it all sounds good. I would put up half their CD if I wanted to ruin the fact that a mixtape should have a mix of artists. Andrew Bird is brilliance. I can appreciate his style more than Sufjan [...]

Underarm hair is disgusting for females, yet ladies are to tolerate it on men? Don’t get me wrong: I don’t shave my pits, I’m a straight guy, and I’m not really a feminist (in the sense of increasing rights of women only; I’m more of a nongenderist [a made up word] where gender has the least bearing possible on social life so men and women both have rights equally). I’m just curious why men would get grossed out that girls would have hair under their arm. It’s more common in Europe, but I’d like to hear opinions from all around the world. And makeup too- why are women expected to put products on their face? It might imply that they are ugly without it. I’m not trying to argue that it is wrong to do so. Men are using makeup more often than they have in the past. Some women enjoy fancying themselves up. It’s fine if you do, but those who don’t usually get negative comments. The only reason I could come up with is that both makeup and shaving outwardly expresses hygiene and those who don’t do it are perceived as unclean. This doesn’t really hold up though, [...]

I recently added a new color to my web scheme via CSS coding. I needed another color for secondary headings that complimented the others and pink is what I liked. For those who don’t know: I’m a guy, a dude, a man. I’m not homosexual, I just like all colors. And maybe it will increase the number of female readers. I may change it to a subtler tone of pink, but I do like how pink adds to the layout. My philosophy of color is that all colors are equally good and equally bad. It’s when you combine them that they can make or break aesthetics. I say my favorite color is green, but I enjoy every hue under the right conditions.
