Abortion is a personal convenience and a distortion of morality. Abortion is the intentional ending of the natural process of the unborn. In order to have an abortion, someone has to approve it, and many people call this a “termination.” This sounds much nicer than murder or killing, but people who are disgusted by the Holocaust and are aware of the inhumane acts and experiments that took place there should be cautious of “terminations” and the consequences that come with it.

At the beginning of the life cycle, there is a zygote. The zygote turns oxygen and nutrients into energy which causes the cells to undergo divisions, multiplicity, and growth. This is a living organism. It is human. When there are no complications, the child will exit the mother at birth. Supporters of abortion claim that this is when it becomes a human, but there is no evidence to prove this, since it is a product of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) like all other humans.

Some make the argument that both the mother and fetus take up one body, so the child has no rights. This does not take into account that the fetus is its own “body,” and the fact that it is inside the woman does not affect anything. There are people with parasites who feed off of the person inside their body, and nobody claims that both the parasite and person are one body. During an abortion, the potential independent infant is treated the same way as a parasite. The mother owns the baby and has certain rights, but she is not the unborn baby. This proves that it is a unique living entity, regardless of the spacial atmosphere and the dependence of nourishment, for a small child is also dependent on food to survive. Unlike the adult, unborn babies do not have a choice. They are victims without any rights, with no lawyer and no say in anything. They did not decide to be born, so there is no choice on their part.

An objection that I have with the pro-choice stance is that the mother already had a choice. She decided to have intercourse. Sex is obviously a large factor in abortion because it is required in order to have an abortion. No one can have an abortion without having intercourse first, besides artificial insemination (but I have never heard of an abortion in this case). If a woman does not want to get pregnant, she should responsibly consider the possible effects when having sex. Every adult knows what happens when two people take part in this act. It is the reason people have children. Contrariwise, there are times when a pregnant women’s choice is endangered when she is coerced into having an abortion. In some cases, parents may threaten to disown the daughter, boyfriends/husbands threaten physical abuse or other problems, or doctors will tell them that it is the easiest solution. This is clearly not giving a mother a choice, but making her vulnerable to the pressures of society.

Even in rape, abortion is not right. The innocent child should not have to pay for the father’s crime. It is unethical to replace one evil with another. The crime does bring an inconvenience, but the easiest way out isn’t always the best way out. If someone stole my car and I saw a vacant vehicle unlocked with the keys inside, that would be an easy way out, but it would be wrong because I would be causing someone else harm.

When someone is pregnant, they do not say “I am having a fetus!” They say they are going to have a baby. When people have children, they are considered babies, yet when they are unwanted they are labeled as a non-human to undermine the same being that loving parents call babies.

Even the law of the United States contradicts itself. It is legal to be able to terminate your pregnancy, yet Scott Peterson is convicted of double homicide. A double homicide involves murder of two people. In one case it is a soon-to-be-valid life, and on the other side it is considered a life. This means either that abortion is murder, or Mr. Peterson legally ended his son’s life through self-performed abortion, and illegally terminated his wife. This is a double standard that degrades moral principles and leads our country into a social paradox.

Norma McCorvey, known as “Jane Roe” from the famous Roe v. Wade abortion case, has filed a legal appeal to the Supreme Court to overturn the ruling because of new medical evidence that shows that abortion may cause harm to both the mother and the unborn child. Unfortunately, the appeal was denied. Over the years, however, it has become evident that some abortions can lead to complications in future pregnancies, including infertility, miscarriage, and premature birth.

The most unfortunate and sickening events occur when the aborted child has survived a broken neck, or an 18-hour bath in saline solution, or some amputations. The doctors have a decision to either murder it or put it in the foster care system. These incidents are disgraceful and unfair to the newborn. The abortion survivors are proof that they are not a lifeless glob, but a human being.

The niece of Martin Luther King Junior, Alveda King, speaks publicly about her regret of her abortion. She is a member of the Silent No More Campaign, and she stands behind her uncle’s legacy for civil rights. To her, abortion is no different from slavery. The mother gets to do as she sees fitting, and the baby must submit to her and give up its life. Alveda urges women to speak out on their spiritual and emotional pain from their abortions.

The womb should be a place of security for the baby, but abortion turns the womb into a slaughterhouse of destruction. The fetus is not a worthless pile of protoplasm. There is no evidence to support that a fetus is no less human than a month old child. I see no difference in the mind of a fetus and a newborn. Both receive nourishment and then mature. With this in mind, I cannot support a woman’s “choice” if there is no proof to show that a fetus is less human than a newborn. I value life more than a choice that destroys it. I was adopted, and I am glad I was not aborted, because I was a child, not a choice.

If you want a glimpse of an abortion, watch audio/video online (see “Harder Truth”). Also see photos. I do not intend to cater to emotions, so if you are sensitive to graphic material I advise not to watch, but it’s called reality and there is no deceit in the truth.
