When Calling:

It's my hope that callers to the show (whether they agree or disagree), can call live on the air and talk civilly. Callers on the air can talk just as you would a friend or relative. However, "air time" is very valuable. Here are some helpful tips that will maximize your time on the show and help you get your point across.
  1. Get the point-If you hesitate more than 3 seconds while on the show, this creates "dead air." Dead air is a big "no-no" and I'll have to jump in regardless of whether you have completed your thought or not.
  2. Turn your radio off or way down.
  3. Have a specific topic or question and stick with your point.
  4. Although callers are encouraged to call every week, callers are only allowed one call per show. Callers are not allowed back again (on the same show) after they have already been on the air. Free feel to call back the following week.
  5. If you hear the "bumper music" you have about 5 seconds to rap up your thought. If Steve chooses to hold you over a commercial break, he will ask you stay. Either way, when you here the music start to play, please wrap up your thoughts so you don't get cut off.
Email Questions:

Q."How can I get my e-mail to you?
A. I read e-mail once a day. Please don't get offended if I don't make any comments, so far, I'm the only staff member that reads those.

Q. Can I forward you e-mails?
A. Don't! If you think there is something important enough for me to read, take the time to make a comment in the "subject line" or the body of the text. If you send me a forward without addressing me or a member of the staff, you will be condemned to SPAM-ville and you'll never get another chance to use that e-mail for me or the show again. Sorry this policy has to exist, but most of you will understand, some people always take advantage.

If you have listened to the show for any length of time, you'll know: We are trying to syndicate the show nationwide and that's why I still answers my own e-mail. We still need your help! The entire Straight from the Hip Staff is convinced we have a "winning" show on our hands. We are all equally convinced that the show will someday be syndicated nationwide! Until then, Russ, Deborah, Rebecca Sarah, Malissa and Dan the rest of the staff and I go to work at separate jobs everyday to support our families. I get to work at "company X" by 6:30 AM and Larry goes to work at 6:00. Then I have a part time job nights and some weekends.

More regarding Email:

I love informative, complimentary, or critical e-mails, so fire away! However, I am not looking for "Pen-Pals." If you have something constructive to say please, e-mail away. If you are a new listener, please let us know, (you'll make our day). But please, no dinner invites, recipes, home health care tips, business ventures, or any variety of things people think we may be interested in.

Without the support of listeners like you we have NO CHANCE of making it to the "Big Leagues." Our goal is to help as many aspects of society as we can by promoting "Conservative" causes and to make you proud enough to say: "I've been listening to you ever since you were JUST on in Arizona!".

We can't keep up this pace without the help & cooperation of our "Listeners". Thank you for your kind understanding.
