Shuffle on over to Daytrotter to download some fabulous recordings of CoCoRosie. Their refreshing tune to listen to first is the mis-titled track “R.I.P. Burnface” which is really the beautiful “Lemonade.”
Often times CoCoRosie gets slammed as a worse version of Bjork. I don’t usually care for Björk, so the argument doesn’t stick. I would say that the vocals compare more to Bob Dylan in the sense that they are an acquired taste. American Idol is not the contest here, but let the music speak.
Granted, they are strange. They like goofy costumes similar the The Knife, and they enjoy an even worse album cover. The upside is they have an interesting concoction of traditional inspiration with an experimental electronic sound.
