“Rawnald Gregory Erickson The Second” had us hooked at the plucky guitar intro. The instrumentation has a Pinback feel, but the vocals are all Starfucker. We can’t help imagining this song would be a delightful mashup candidate with “Float On” by Modest Mouse.
Little Scream- The Heron and the Fox
Montreal based Little Scream, aka Laurel Sprengelmeye, has composed a beautiful song. You can actually hear the cold, bitter Canadian winter in her haunting vocals. Luckily, she wont be cold much longer. Little Scream is making a tour stop in sunny Tucson at Solar Culture on March 22nd.
Gramatik- Hit That Jive (Original Mix)
“Hit That Jive” meshes old school piano (think Boardwalk Empire) with hip hop beats. The result is a refreshing, modern combination of old and new.
If Keisha actually had some talent, she might sound something like Cof Cof, the Spanish duo behind “Dirty Tricks”. The singer’s cute accent works very well with the brash lyrics. Perhaps Keisha should follow their lead and adopt an accent. It couldn’t hurt.

“Go Outside” is the quintessential girl pop anthem. Cults has garage tinged vocals that complement the xylophone instrumentals. The outcome is a mix between The Supremes and Beach House.
We love “When I’m Small” by Phantogram. The bass resembles “Hang me up to Dry” by Coldwar Kids; however, that is where the resemblance ends. “When I’m Small” is a pounding, upbeat hit with the perfect balance of analog and digital tones.
Beach House- White Moon (JAQUES remix)
Beach House never fails to impress us, and “White Moon” is no exception. We especially love this Jaques remix. It is a highly driven rendition of an already terrific song. What’s not to like?
We were not impressed by Lykke Li’s caustic single, “Get Some.” We almost gave up hope on her new album, until we heard “I Follow Rivers.” This is the Lykke Li that we have come to love. The song has a tribal influence and a very catchy chorus that veers on stalker territory, but at the same time is sweetly endearing.
